Under the leadership of Dr. O. J. Adesina, the Department of Special Education and Guidance and Counselling offers B.Ed. Special Education and B.Ed. Guidance and Counselling programs. The department is dedicated to preparing educators and counselors who can support individuals with diverse learning needs and provide effective guidance. It focuses on inclusive education practices, psychological counseling, and student welfare. What is Special Education and Guidance and Counselling?

Special Education and Guidance and Counselling is an interdisciplinary field that prepares professionals to support learners with diverse educational needs while promoting their academic, personal, social, emotional, and career development. The programme combines the principles of special education with guidance and counselling to ensure that every learner has equal access to quality education and opportunities for personal growth.

Students acquire knowledge and practical skills in identifying and supporting individuals with disabilities and special learning needs, as well as providing counselling services that address educational, vocational, and psychosocial challenges. The curriculum covers inclusive education, educational psychology, behaviour management, counselling theories and techniques, assessment and intervention, rehabilitation, and career guidance.

Graduates are equipped to work as special education teachers, guidance counsellors, educational consultants, rehabilitation specialists, inclusion coordinators, and counsellors in schools, higher institutions, healthcare facilities, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community development programmes.
